Dragons
Dragons are very interesting creatures
indeed in and of themselves. Even though we know a lot about them from Eragon, it is
certain that there is a ton more information to find out about them.
Dragons hatch from eggs that are the same color as the dragon that will hatch
out of it. (F.E: Saphira's egg was blue and so is she.) A dragon egg
is about the size of a large rock. The egg is smooth and quite hard with
white streaks upon it. A dragon egg is virtually unbreakable.
A baby dragon can live in its eggs for hundreds of years and still not be ready
to hatch. A dragon is only ready to hatch once it has found its
rider. The dragon rider seals his title by touching his/her dragon which
binds the two creatures mentally. The rider is marked with the Gedwëy
Ignasia, which enables him/her to do magic and mentally talk to his/her dragon.
A dragons scales are very rough and strong.
If a rider flies on his dragon without a saddle it is likely that the skin of
his inner legs will be scraped off as if sand paper was rubbing against his
legs, as we see in the early chapters of Eragon.
A dragon will never stop growing as long as it
lives. As such, it is said that dragons have been mistaken to be large hills.
Dragons also live forever as long as their
rider does not die or they do not die themselves. Their rider will eventually die,
but riders live for a very long time as a result of the magic bestowed upon them
by their dragon counterpart.
